Welcome to Games Teacher!
This site came into being because I volunteered to give a presentation on the use of games to teach English in EFL classrooms in Korea. I am a member of the Gangwon chapter of KOTESOL. I was going to provide a handout of my favourite sites and books but realized that too many innocent trees would have to die. So I turned to cyberspace and created this site.
I am constantly looking for resources and will be adding to these pages as I find things. I will be scanning some of the games that I have created in my quest to teach English and will post them in the photo album.
I am a big believer in using games to teach English! Through this site, I hope to provide links to help others who use or want to explore using games in their teaching. I am also providing a bibliography of books that I have found useful.
"For a small child there is no division between playing and learning; between the things he or she does “just for fun” and things that are “educational.” The child learns while living and any part of living that is enjoyable is also play."
Penelope Leach
I have used games in teaching English to Koreans for many years. My teaching experience ranges from kinder aged 3 and 4, through Elementary and Middle School students, to University students and adults including professors. I call what I use 'games' other people refer to them as 'activities' or 'tasks'. Pick the word that makes you the most comfortable and come and explore.
